Increasing Women’s Representation in Law Symposium and Awards

The Ministry of Law and Justice (MOL&J), Group Development Pakistan (GDP), and Women in Law Initiative Pakistan invite the submission of abstracts for “Increasing Women’s Representation in Law Symposium’ held with support from the Australian High Commission (Main Sponsor) and the British High Commission (Co-Sponsors). Articles for the symposium shall be based on ONE of the following NINE themes. Authors are free to interpret the themes and develop the research question/topic/title of their paper in the context of their chosen theme. The research question/topic should be a more focused statement, which the proposed paper is expected to address. The themes for the symposium are as follows:

  • Why Fair Representation Matters?
  • Structural Impediments towards Women’s Advancement in Law
  • Women’s Fair Representation in Judiciary
  • Women and Bar Politics
  • Workplace, Women and the Law
  • Justice Sector with a Gender and Child Justice Lens
  • Women and their Contribution to Law and Jurisprudence
  • Jurisprudence and Gender
  • By the Men, for the Women: Lack of Representative Voice in Laws Impacting Women

The research question/topic based on one of the themes above should be a more focused statement, which the proposed paper is expected to address. The abstracts must be between 200-250 words. The deadline to submit the abstract is Friday, 30th October 2020. All abstracts must be submitted via email to [email protected]For queries, please contact: [email protected].

Submission Guidelines

  • There will be a two-stage process for submission of the papers. In the first instance, the participants must submit a 200-250 word abstract of their proposed paper.
  • The deadline for submission of the Abstract is Friday, 30th October 2020;
  • Only the candidates whose abstracts are selected must submit the complete papers;
  • The deadline for submission of full papers is three months after the acceptance of the Abstract;
  • All manuscripts should be in MS Word format;
  • All text should be in double space with a 1-inch margin on all sides using a Times New Roman font of size 12;

Please include:

  • a title page with the title of the article and author’s contact information (postal address, institution/organization/affiliation, phone, and email);
  • a starred footnote next to the author’s name with author’s biography and acknowledgment;
  • Any material submitted to the Journal should be original and must not have been published elsewhere;
  • Co-authorship/multiple authorship is permitted;
  • The length of articles should be between 4000 to 6000 words. The articles should be thoroughly researched and referenced by way of footnotes;
  • Contributions will only be considered for publication if they comply with the style guide; 
  • All papers must follow OSCOLA as a citation style guide.
  • All abstracts/papers, along with copyright notice and paper submission form, must be submitted only via email to [email protected]
